Adverse camber needs highlighting

Reported via mobile in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 20:14, Monday 29 June 2026

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9704468.

I had quite a scary experience this evening, Driving north on the A697 and a southbound lorry seemed to struggle with the adverse camber on the southbound carriageway and veered into my lane - almost to be head on with me. Thankfully I was close in towards the verge and they righted themselves but a sign warning southbound drivers of this feature in the road could be useful. Especially given the higher volume of traffic due to diversions at the moment

  • Thanks for your email. I've checked our accident data for the last 10 years and there has only been 1 accident (slight) at this location which suggests the road layout and current signage are adequate. We will however continue to monitor this in the future.
