Continuous flooding problem caused by bad and or blocked drains.

Yet again last evening we flooded in one room of our home. We were mopping up indoors whilst trying to clear drains outside. The chair of Knarsdale Parish Council came to help get the drains flowing again. (Fortunate for us he lives next door). This had been an on going problem since August 2012 ' Thunder Thursday ' it was know as. (See dated photo). I have reported this problem numerous times, including last time it happened in May 2024, eventually, a year later drains were cleared. I have attached photos, only allows 3, i have more, from the past to explain the problem. Couldn't get photos last evening as it was a rush to save our belongings and stop water. The Parish council have report numerous times too. This time I will be also informing our local MP as we are getting nowhere trying to protect our home.

- Where cars are having to drive on the opposite side of the road due to a blocked drain
- Where pedestrians are having to walk off the pavement into the road due to a blocked drain

- Where surface water from the highway is entering private property
- Where there is a build-up of surface water at a bus stop
- Where there is a build-up of surface water at pedestrian crossings

Great news, we have progress on your report. Our inspection team have completed their investigations and instructed repairs to be completed. At this time the repair does not meet our immediate repair criteria.
We have added this repair to our future schedule of works. This could be due to several factors we’ve encountered:
- Further cleaning of the main pipe is required
- A blockage has been discovered in another area
- The gulley requires a full replacement

A gentleman from the council has been out and sprayed paint where issues need addressing. He said they are hoping to be out in the next few weeks to do works. We can only hope with fingers crossed.

Yes, work has been carried out. The ditch has been dug out up the hill. 2 drains have been dug out, cleared and a much improved, deeper concrete run off put in that lead to a new grate on two drains. Plus a new drain added and grated at the bottom of the hill where water built up as no where to go. This is opposite the existing one that has been upgraded. Now to see if they work when we have heavy rain. The work force were so nice and friendly, kept us informed of what they were doing and why, such a nice bunch of gents. Just a shame it has taken 13 years and an email to the local councillor and MP to get it sorted.
