Missing sign

Reported via desktop in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 17:43, Tuesday 3 March 2026

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9039710.

There should be a ‘hidden dip’ sign on the opposite side of the road to help prevent vehicles overtaking into a ‘hidden dip’ and thus help prevent accidents, that sign has been flattened by a car that swerved to avoid an overtaking vehicle going east, up the hill in the dip, there is no sign or has there ever been to warn that it is dangerous to overtake at this point, there are solid white lines but many do not heed the warning, now the sign on the opposite side of the road is now flattened it is doubly dangerous as vehicles will overtake from the east going west putting east bound traffic in danger. Even more dangerous when they come up behind cyclists and get impatient and overtake without thinking, if a vehicle is approaching from the other direction and is in the dip there is only one way they will go and that is into the cyclist, it’s the easiest option that offers the least damage to heir vehicle! There should be a sign from both directions covering all options/possibilities!
