Constant litter never ending

Reported via desktop in the Roadside Litter category anonymously at 15:44, Tuesday 3 March 2026

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9038782.

I am contacting you because the amount of litter: especially plastic caught in bushes, food packaging, fly tipped items or items that have fallen from vehicles has reached intolerable levels along the A189 and A19 in Southeast Northumberland.

The environmental impact is serious. Soon the bushes will sprout foliage and birds will begin to nest - in a sea of plastic. As we know, plastic takes hundreds if not thousands of years to decompose (if at all).

The tourist season is beginning soon. The impression of this region should be positive and should encourage visitors to return and tell others to visit. If the mess is not removed, it will make a very bad impression of the local area
