Excess groundwater causing issues
Reported via mobile in the Blocked - Flooding of Private Property category anonymously at 12:30, Monday 2 March 2026
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9028400.
The 3 houses (75, 77, 79) have all been experiencing excess groundwater for some time. With the rains 2 weeks ago this has caused ‘springs’ of water next to our houses. Northumbria water has investigated and say all the gully drains look to be blocked on the road - they think this is the cause. Note the pictures drain has also sunk in recent years (worse after Virgins fibre laying).

Great news, we have progress on your report. Our inspection team have completed their investigations and instructed repairs to be completed. At this time the repair does not meet our immediate repair criteria.
We have added this repair to our future schedule of works. This could be due to several factors we’ve encountered:
- Further cleaning of the main pipe is required
- A blockage has been discovered in another area
- The gulley requires a full replacement
If this issue is causing a potential flooding concern or poses a risk to a property, please call 0345 600 6400.
Thank you.
