URGENT Collapsed/Broken Drain Cover Creating Dangerous Open Hole
Reported via desktop in the Broken / Missing category by Jan Birks at 13:22, Saturday 21 February 2026
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8968557.
This is a second urgent report regarding the broken and partially collapsed drain cover on B6322, on the walking path opposite of the charging area, on the west side heading towards the Railway pub. As shown in the attached photo, the metal cover is severely damaged and has fallen into the drain opening, leaving a large exposed hole. This is a major health and safety hazard. The opening poses a serious risk to: Pedestrians Elderly residents Wheelchair users and people with disabilities Parents with pushchairs Children walking nearby Cyclists Dogs and other pets Someone could very easily trip, fall, twist an ankle, or suffer a more serious injury. For people with mobility or visual impairments, this danger is even greater. The defect appears significant and requires immediate attention. This issue has already been reported, but it remains unresolved. Given the severity of the risk to public safety, I urgently request that this be inspected and repaired as soon as possible, or at the very least properly secured to prevent injury. Please treat this matter as a priority and confirm when repairs will be carried out.
