More blocked drains

Reported via desktop in the Blocked - Flooding of Road/Path category by Robert Lawson at 17:48, Wednesday 11 February 2026

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8896564.

Although 1 drains on the bend were cleared, one uphill and one down are also blocked. The uphill one was covered in silt and easily missed; the downhill one has some white paint suggesting work may be scheduled. IN ADDITION, the one at the bottom, just outside the house is again blocked and water is running across the road. One question: Which way should gratings on drains fit? Should they be turned to direct water into the drain more efficiently. I have noticed some are fitted in both orientations.

  • Great news, we have progress on your report. Our inspection team have completed their investigations and instructed repairs to be completed. At this time the repair does not meet our immediate repair criteria.

We have added this repair to our future schedule of works. This could be due to several factors we’ve encountered:

    • Further cleaning of the main pipe is required
    • A blockage has been discovered in another area
    • The gulley requires a full replacement

If this issue is causing a potential flooding concern or poses a risk to a property, please call 0345 600 6400.

    Thank you.
