A number of potholes on both side of the road

Reported via mobile in the Potholes category anonymously at 21:47, Tuesday 3 February 2026

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8832581.

There are a number of potholes and has been here for a few weeks, obviously made it worse by the size of the lorry’s that use the road. Both sides of the road are equally as bad. My concerns as I use this road daily as I’m a Detchant resident is the damage that might occur to mine and my neighbours cars as they are unavailable and I have hit them on occasion.

  • Subject: Urgent Repair Required – Multiple Potholes on U34

I am writing to formally report multiple potholes along U34 which require urgent attention.

There are several potholes on both sides of this single carriageway, including two that are particularly deep and large. These defects are becoming increasingly hazardous. The size and depth of the potholes pose a serious risk of damage to vehicles, especially if they are not seen in time.

In addition, the condition of the road surface is causing damage to the occupants’ verge, which is an ongoing concern. The problem appears to be worsening, likely due to the significant number of heavy vehicles regularly using this route.

Given the safety implications and the potential for vehicle damage, I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated and the necessary repairs carried out as soon as possible. Please could you also confirm when the site will be inspected and advise on the anticipated timescale for repairs.

I look forward to your prompt response.
