Dog Fouling and Out of Control dogs

Reported via desktop in the Dog Fouling category anonymously at 15:52, Tuesday 3 February 2026

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8830506.

I am finding walks on our local beach are becoming more and more problematic. With entitled dog owners allowing their dogs to roam whilst, they are on their phones, not paying attention to where their dogs are, fouling, coming up to children, causing a nuisance to families enjoying their walk. Irresponsible dog owners are allowing their dogs to roam consequentially resulting in dog fouling being very high on this popular walking route. Dog fouling remains a problem across the dunes directly accessed from the carpark as well as, the beach below. On Sunday my family and I were looking for skimming rocks and my daughter picked up dog faeces. It is becoming an increasingly unsafe environment due to the amount of dog fouling that, I would never take my shoes off on this beach. I have a dog that has hip dysplasia and a young child, I am finding myself in increasingly stressful situations where irresponsible dog owners are allowing their dogs to roam without any control. Trying to keep my elderly dog and young child, whilst being verbally abused by irresponsible dog owners is an increasing issue. I am proposing a sign and a presence that it be looked into for dogs to remain on leads at all times.
