Water flooding into my cellar

Reported via desktop in the Flooding category anonymously at 12:04, Monday 12 January 2026

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8671809.

Good afternoon, during the recent heavy rain water has been pouring into my cellar (under Custom House, 18 Quay Walls) from the small area of overgrown land abutting the Quay Walls. This area does not appear to be maintained. I would be happy to take this in in order to prevent flooding in future but have no idea who owns the land and is responsible for its upkeep. I have spent the past week or so mopping and using a dehumidifier to try and deal with the water ingress but I fear this will continue to happen, potentially causing structural damaging the Grade 1 Listed cellar unless something is done. Many thanks in advance.

  • Hi Jake, I can see this has been added to your shortlist Just had the customer on just now re this. Is there anyway that this can be avoided with water running down this street and into his cellar? Like direct the running water to a drain in the area? I am also going to ask land registry who actually owns this land as the customer is interested in keeping it in a nicer state than it is just now. Thanks
