Road works sign obstructing pavement by St George’s Church crossing, Morpeth

Reported via mobile in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 15:58, Wednesday 27 August 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8073501.

The sign has been re-erected and placed so as to completely block the pavement, just leaving the textured area for pedestrians waiting to use the zebra crossing. If people are waiting to cross, no other pedestrians can pass. If they aren’t, adults with children or prams/pushchairs and wheelchair users cannot pass without going on the road - which is busy. It’s been there since the weekend.

  • The sign is now lying face down out of the way in an angle of the church. It could have been sited there quite safely in the first place.
