Pavements blocked both sides of the road by bins
Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 13:40, Thu 7 August 2025
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7993081.
Location back bubbles to dairy douse carpark (but all way up back road). The pavements are blocked both sides of the road and also part of the road with rubbish from all the businesses on station road and also the restaurant. This is a health hazard with the smell, the bins being overfilled and not closed, an eyesore and also a serious safety risk as there is nowhere for people to walk. A couple of days ago I had to intervene when a motorist was shouting abuse at a young lass with a buggy who had to walk on the road and was nearly hit. I told him that if he had a problem take it out with the businesses whereupon he told me where to go and drove off at speed. This has been a problem which has been raised over a number of years but is now getting worse. This is a narrow street with narrow pavements bins should not be on the road or pavement. people should be safe when they walk up this street. Not sure if I have put this issue on the correct page if not pleas pass on.

This is still a dangerous disgusting stinking mess. Maybe it will get resolved after someone gets badly hurt

It is now over 3 months since I reported this issue. Today I saw 2 rats feasting at this mess which I think is now worse. These bins are overflowing and spilling onto the street. The bin lids are vertical as the bins are so full the street stinks. This is a very serious health and safety issue which appears that has been ignored since 1st reported on 7/8/2025. This street is used as a pedestrian route from the Dairy House car park people have to walk on the road as both pavements are obstructed. What must people visiting Ashington think if this disgusting mess is what they encounter after leaving their cars. Some feedback would be appreciated as to what if anything has been done and when the issue will be resolved
