Abandoned and unfinished road works
Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 13:07, Saturday 26 July 2025
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7935808.
Barriers, signs, cones have been here since February 2025. Workmen last seen before Easter. PLEASE come and finish the works off and remove the barriers etc as they are blocking more than half the junction and making it very dangerous. This is a very rural area with many tractors and other farm machinery moving around.

16 days on, all the clutter of barriers and signs is still here. Annoyed locals have made the blocked off area smaller by moving the barriers and signs in (working farm machinery needs to be able to pass after all), but there are cones and signs thrown into the verges now. NCC, this lack of action is just not good enough.

The tarmac has now finally been done, and all but 2 of the signs removed, BUT the road has not been swept up properly, meaning there is a lot of loose stones/gravel on the road. - as this is a 90 degree junction on a route heavily used by cyclists and motorcyclists, this is an unsafe surface. Why oh why are workmen repeatedly allowed to get away with not finishing a job properly? Common sense says that loose construction material left on the surface on a corner at the end of a job that has already taken over 6 months (ie was previously forgotten about) is not a sensible thing to do.
