This Rumble Strip needs removing
Reported via mobile in the Damaged Speed Humps category anonymously at 21:56, Sun 6 July 2025
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7818214.
Rumble strip on GreenField Drive serves absolutely no purpose at all, it most definitely does not reduce speed, it actually deliberately makes people speed up to see how hard they can hit it, all it does is shake my house to bits needed 3 front window replaced in 8 years by the shock waves it sends through the ground when large vehicles hit it. When the bin wagon hits it at 7am you can actually feel it jolt the whole house.
This is the longest stretch of the estate for speeding, it either needs removing or replacing with a proper speed calming system

Thanks for your message. The rumble strip was installed in accordance with regulations at the time. The average speed in Greenfield Drive is 13mph, suggesting that people do not speed up at this point. We have no plans to remove the traffic calming feature though it can be reviewed when the road is due for resurfacing, at which point all residents would be consulted on its removal or retention.
