Street lighting off
Reported via desktop in the Multiple Lamp/Bulb Failure category anonymously at 17:25, Sat 5 July 2025
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7813869.
Following works by Northern Power Grid and Northumbrian Water last week (Fri 20th June - Thur 26th June) the street lightning from Mountford Road through Merrington Close is now off, that is all three main street lights on Merrington Close.
The area is on the very edge of the village and extremely dark, consider to be a danger to people living/walking in the area.

Its not just the three lights on Merrington Close, but all the lights from the junction of Melton Drive & Mountford Road, down Mountford Road and all of Montrose Close as well. Plus the first light on Hastings Terrace.
While it's nice to have a dark sky, its feels unsafe and a lot of elderly folk live in this part of the village. Please resolve this ASAP.

We have found there to be an ongoing cable fault between these units. We are currently awaiting Northern Powergrid to supply a new feed into these units.

Still open, via questionnaire, 17:37, Sat 2 August 2025
The Northern Powergrid team came and dug around this street light, replaced cable and two weeks later it was finally filled in. But the problem remains, all three street lights down Merrington Close are still out. Its into the dark nights now and its VERY DARK down here!
I would imagine this is now with another team as the fault has been investigated and they've not been able to resolve!?!?
As a resident, I can confirm these lights went out when the Powergrid team dug up the pavement between #10 & #12 Mountford road, just near to street light number #280S. So I would assume the cable has been damaged there.
Please, please get our lights back on ASAP.
