Speed

Reported via desktop in the Surface Condition category anonymously at 16:05, Sat 14 June 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7709640.

Is there anything you can do to help slow vehicles coming down this hill, yes we have speed bumps but the first one isn’t until you are just below the entrance to newholme avenue which is a popular crossing point to the children’s park…I don’t expect miracles but wondered if like other places ( catton,Hexham and Morpeth to name three that I see regularly ) why cant we have a sign that indicates what speed you are doing as you are approaching the sign,or a flashing sign indicating a children’s playground,I know I slow down to well below the limit when I see one of these signs,it’s honestly just a matter of time before someone gets knocked over entering or exiting the comb hill park, the hill is already busy with moving traffic heading too and from the military road but also there are cars quite legally parked but children do forget and pop out from between parked vehicles too ….or like Hexham make the whole hill a 20mph speed limit and get someone out monitoring it…the speed bumps only slow down cars as larger vehicles straddle it ( I know that's for emergency vehicles ) motorbikes fly between the bumps ….
