Neighbours complaint about hedge infringing on public boundary

Reported via mobile in the Hedge Cutting category anonymously at 10:57, Tuesday 10 June 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7687159.

We moved into this house with an ivy hedge which houses nesting birds, moths and pollinating insects so we have kept it. In January I paid £300 to have the height and front and back cut back hard. Apparently a complaint has been made that the side overlooking the pedestrian path is causing a problem. As this is not on our property I am happy to have the ivy removed from that side but clearly as a pensioner, I cannot afford anymore money to pay for this job to be done, so I expect it becomes the responsibility of the council? Hopefully it won't impact too badly on the wildlife that pollinates the flowers and fruit trees in the neighbourhood. Thankyou.
