Continuous dog excrement deposits near our properties

Reported via desktop in the Dog Fouling category anonymously at 16:19, Fri 30 May 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7639765.

Large amounts of dog excrement deposits near our properties/businesses on a daily basis. It is a health hazard and I have had to pay people to remove it for me; I have mobility issues and navigating the piles of excrement on my doorstep and near my car is a major issue. My very young grandson has been in contact on several occasions, which is a major concern. In addition, a local business owner is constantly removing this hazardous mess, to avoid her customers being contaminated. It is everywhere; Please help!

  • My neighbour cleaned up 8 lots of dog excrement at the end of last week. There are five fresh "deposits" in a space of a few metres. This is constant and a health hazard, particularly for visiting children. I have mobility issues and am sometimes unable to navigate the obstacle course of dog dirt to access my car.

  • Found SIX new lots this morning, (I am unable to get out much due to mobility issues) ... a disgusting dog lavatory near my door! Had to get a friend to clear it up for me! One of the culprits is a couple with 2 dogs, who live in a flat above Seaside Travel on Westgate. Never picks up waste unless they know they are BEING WATCHED.

  • Even MORE dog poo; right next to my car. Beyond a joke!

  • There are still piles of dog mess in the area. The couple who let their dogs foul the area when they think they are not being watched are still using the area, particularly the rear Co-op carpark, as a loo for their dogs. They do not pick up, unless they are being watched.

  • Yet more dog pooh to be picked up before I could access my car this morning!

  • The problem continues. Further "deposits" had to be picked up this morning by non dog owners. Both inconsiderate and selfish owners.

  • Right outside my front door, YET AGAIN! This happened between 6pm and 7pm today. This is despite you spraying a yellow sign on the floor. With the nights drawing in, it would not have been visible any later and could have ended up inside the property. It is DISGUSTING and these dog owners need to be heavily fined and have their dogs removed from their care! I am SICK of spending money having this cleared and on strong disinfectant products. In addition, some despicable person allowed their dog, which was wearing a harness, to foul in two places in the Hospital/ Memorial grounds. I could not see the inconsiderate owner from my window due to the trees being in leaf, or I would have taken photos for evidence. Literally minutes later, a lady with her three young children were in the immediate area, running around and collecting conkers. Several other young people played in the same area throughout the afternoon; I would imagine that more than one of them ended up contaminated to some degree. This cannot go on. It is a serious health hazard. PLEASE HELP!

  • The same people are continuing to let their dogs foul the area and one dog is never on a lead.

  • Yet MORE dog mess on doorsteps. Heavy fines needed as this problem is not being dealt with. If you don't want to clean up after YOUR dog, don't have a dog; simple!

  • WHAT is the point of "public updates" if they are NOT sent to the council? No point at all; just sending residents on a run around and still having to live with HAZARDOUS waste on our streets. Shocking!

  • Still lots of dog mess not being cleaned up by inconsiderate pet owners. The problem isn't being tackled. Is it going to take a child to become seriously ill from this before robust action is taken? I hope not.
