The footpath along the edge of the River Tyne (keyID 551/009) has been closed for some time with heras fencing either end. This appears to be due to erosion on the river bank. It is obvious walkers are still using the path regularly and have found alternative access points off Stephenson Terrace. Could a formal path opening be provided?

  • The footpath is closed for safety reasons due tot he condition of the riverbank. Options for making the path available continue to be investigated but until a safe means of access can be provided the footpath will remain fenced off. This report will now be closed.
