Dangerous footpath

Reported via desktop in the Surface Condition category by Roger Grant at 21:52, Friday 11 April 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7423617.

Walking along Cheviot View towards Dobbies is now an accident waiting to happen. My wife and I, both in our 70s found the walk today very challenging. My wife has recently had eye surgery and had to be supported to prevent her stumbling, the path is unsafe and a faller could hall onto the road where vehicles regularly exceed the speed limit. It’s a well used footpath with a number of joggers using it as part of their route to the new bridle path along Rotary Way. The local nursery often uses the path with its “walking trains” The surface has crumbled considerably, manhole/ utilities cover are raised and a distinct hazard. My wife recently helped a young jogger who tripped, but fortunately fell onto the narrow verge of grass rather than the road….the consequences of that don’t bear thinking about.
