Missing signage at south end of (old) cycleway parallel to A193

Reported via desktop in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 11:09, Tuesday 8 April 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7404754.

Where the (old) cycleway joins the southbound carriageway of the A193 there is no visible signage on the ground directing cyclists on to the carriageway. There is a single south-facing sign (partially obscured by road signs) marking the beginning of the cycleway going north. No sign at all directing cyclists to dismount if remaining on the footpath between the end of the cycleway (just north of Gloucester Lodge Farm) and recommencing of (shared) cycleway / footpath south of Seaton Sluice roundabout. Consequently many cyclists (and users of electric mopeds and scooters) use the footpath alongside the A193, creating a hazard to pedestrians. This is particularly a problem opposite the Astley Arms, Seaton Sluice, and the children's play area on the Links.
