Extensive road damage to kerbside of carriageway after dog leg turn in road

Reported via mobile in the Surface Condition category anonymously at 16:16, Thu 30 January 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7060372.

Extensive lengthly damage to road on kerbside heading west from flotterton up greenside bank after the dogleg turn. The damage consists of multiple deep potholes and fallaway of the carriageway on the kerbside. This damage extends over an area of approx 50-100 meters on both sides of the carriageway and has been there for several months, if not upto a year or even more(only lived in this area for 4 years and don't recall this road ever being a good ride). I have just hit this problem today which nearly shook my passenger out of the seat. Aware of the atrocious state of this road(both sides of the carriageway and also similar problems further along the carriageway heading towards Sharperton), but unfortunately I could not avoid it today due to traffic on both sides of the road. The state of this road in numerous places and the dreadful standard of repairs actioned over the past 3 years that I have been in the area and that have been done as recently as this week is absolutely appalling(the repair team seem to have chucked a bit of tarmac down and flattened with a shovel in places - patchwork quilt comes to mind) Driving along this road is an accident/damage to vehicle waiting to happen, the only possible way to avoid the potholes/drop off edges is to drive your car from side to side(chicane like) and it is impossible to see the true extent of the appalling road condition at night or in rainy conditions. I am aware this is not a major road and we are only "rural communities" but it does carry a fair volume of traffic, some of it quite heavy, trucks, farm vehicles, logging trucks., and we have no choice but to use our cars to get anywhere - no public transport, but It is time some proper repairs were effected on this atrocious stretch of road.
