Dangerously uneven path surface
Reported via mobile in the Surface Condition category anonymously at 12:21, Mon 16 December 2024
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6867396.
The pavement immediately outside our property is in a state of dangerous disrepair. It is broken and in some places the scarring is so bad that the sub-base is visible. My elderly mother who is 80 and has mobility issues lost her footing and tripped on one of the uneven sections this weekend, having to be helped to her feet and having suffered a couple of thankfully minor cuts. I’ve also witnessed a neighbour who is a wheelchair user having to take to the road just to avoid this very short section of damaged path-it’s only around 8-10ft long. This really does require some attention before someone gets badly hurt. Thank you.

Thanks You for your report. This does not meet the Councils criteria for a pothole repair. Northumberland County Council will instruct repairs on hazardous defects once a depth of ≥40mm and ≥300mm wide in any direction is assessed on a road. For a footway we will instruct repairs at an intervention level of ≥ 20mm. Each report is risk assessed by our Highways Inspection team up inspection.
