Public footpath blocked by heavy gate

On a walk today, I found the public footpath between Marley Cote Walls and East Woodfoot (Old Farm) blocked by a heavy metal gate wedged between fences and barbed wire. There was also a distinct lack of footpath arrow signs in this area, especially near Marley Cote Walls where it is necessary to walk through the farm yard and cross the burn at certain unsigned points.
