General condition of the cobbles in Market Street Alwick

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6400921.

Some cobbles in the Market Street/ Bondgate within area of Alnwick are lose and very slippery when wet. Lack of suitable warnings for general public. I slipped and fell on the cobbles, sustaining a double fracture to my ankle. I need corrective surgery to pin the broken bones. Don’t want this to happen to anyone else.

  • Thanks You for your report. This does not meet the Councils criteria for a pothole repair. Northumberland County Council will instruct repairs on hazardous defects once a depth of ≥40mm and ≥300mm wide in any direction is assessed on a road. For a footway we will instruct repairs at an intervention level of ≥ 20mm. Each report is risk assessed by our Highways Inspection team up inspection.
