Trees causing damage to property and paths
Reported via mobile in the Trees damaging private property category anonymously at 12:36, Thursday 8 August 2024
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6331844.
My property has been damaged by the tree roots. The wall is cracked and path lifting in the garden. I have already enquired about this and told that the tree roots would die before they reach my house. I am not happy with this explanation. I asked for the verge at the side of path to be fixed where we park our cars. This was not fixed up to the tree. If this is to do with the tree roots can the tree not be removed. I have an adult son who has recently lost his sight. We are having to support him in and out of the car from the passenger side. We park there so we don't have the danger of getting out when cars of passing fast on the road side. If we have wet weather it makes the area wet and slippy and makes it extremely difficult to get him out of the car safely. I have reported the dangerous paths around our area, especially one broken paving stone on which he tripped. The trees are causing lots of problems lifting the paths around where we live. They are also a nuisance with the birds messing on our cars and the sap from the trees causing damage. I reported the problem to the council a few years ago. Someone did come out and suggest going through home insurance which I am not happy about. With personal issues in our life I have not had the time to push this issue. I would like someone to come out and look at the damage and hopefully make repairs. I have a disabled son and the issues I am reporting are very dangerous for him and I want to avoid any injuries.
