Tree roots across Ladies Walk outside 22 High Stanners

Reported via mobile in the Trees damaging private property category anonymously at 10:53, Saturday 27 July 2024

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6282352.

A tree on the river bank outside 22 High Stanners, think it is a Wych Elm, has roots that cross the pavement & have caused it to lift & also has caused our garden wall to crack where the root passes under it. Noticed this about a month ago. Also think the tree is diseased as a branch & leaves have died, there was a branch high up that dropped its leaves last year. The same has happened again this year but the area affected is more extensive.

  • Elm tree looks to have Dutch Elm disease. Tree will likely die. Elm's tend to be stronger when dead. The Ash tree also has die back and will be monitored with a view to be removed in the future.
