Tree overhanging property
Reported via desktop in the Trees damaging private property category anonymously at 11:57, Sun 26 May 2024
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6021670.
I reported this earlier today on my phone but I am nto sure if it was sent successfully. Apologies if this is a repeat. The tree is immediately outside our boundary on the South side. It overhangs considerably now and is almost over our conservatory so that we are concerned about injury or property damage should a branch fall on our side. The tree roots will also be under our property and are likely to be causing damage. The main drain for the estate runs through our garden (roughly West-East) and I am concerned that the roots will be causing damage to that also. If the drain construction fails then it will cause subsidence within our property. The garden is almost totally put into shade by the tree canopy and is affecting the use and enjoyment of our property as a result. All of the above amounts, in my view, to a statutory nuisance and needs attention. The position will only get worse with time. This may be possible to remedy by way of a substantial pruning - but may need the tree to be felled. Please confirm safe receipt of this message - and advise as to the intended next steps.
Many thanks
