Northumberland County Council Update-
We have investigated the issue reported and found that it is on private land. However,
we do have powers under Section 154 (1) of the Highways Act 1980, to advise the
owner/occupier of adjoining land they are required to cut back vegetation so as to
remove the cause or likelihood of danger, obstruction or interference to the users of the
Highway (footpath). In most cases the vegetation is cut back very quickly by the owner/
occupier, but in some instances this can be a lengthier process but be assured we will
follow due process to ensure the work is carried out.
Thank you for bringing this to our attentionState changed to: In progress

Issue remains and is now worse, considering the hedge has continued growing.Other parts of the hedge are now overgrown onto the path, from the original problem area all the way down to Humbles Wood estate, necessitating walking on the road in multiple places

How somebody has not been injured or worse,I don’t know. Parents having to push prams on what can be a busy, fast road, is just not safe

3 months on, still not cut back, parents and children, walkers with and without dogs, etc are walking on the road with cars, vans and works traffic flying past.it’s a disgrace the land / hedge owners have not been made to sort this out by now.3 weeks and there will be loads of children on that road going to and from school

Despite promises to the local county councillor,4 months on the problem remains and is worse.School children are walking on the road which is hazardous, but they can’t use the path ( nor can the rest of us) Surely time the council either cut it and charge the land owners,or serve the relevant section on them Disgraceful
