Tree on grass verge causing damage to garden wall

Reported via mobile in the Trees damaging private property category anonymously at 15:56, Tue 12 March 2024

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5702601.

I first reported this problem in May of 2018, and I was given the Case reference number :- 101005176868, since then the problem has got worse. When after trying to get the problem resolved I received a phone call advising that the tree could not be cut down as it was worth £10,000 and digging up the path to find if there was a problem would not be possible due to cost and disruption I realised I was getting nowhere. All I wanted then and now is for the root to be stopped, not the cutting down of the tree. There is plenty of room in which to locate and terminate the root in the grassed area as has been done to a tree further up the street and there is no reason to dig up the path. As explained previously the problem is that there is a tree on the grass verge between the road and my property. The roots of the tree have undermined the wall that bounds my front garden and pushed the wall backwards and upwards causing a serious crack in the wall. The tree branches are also interfering with the telephone wire to my house.
