Broken dangerous drain cover

Reported via mobile in the Damaged Drains category anonymously at 16:14, Mon 8 January 2024

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5415046.

This cover has been broken for months. I reported it over the phone several months ago. Someone came that evening and dumped a cone on top. Nothing has happened since.

There is a visually impaired resident in Healeycote View who has to walk past this everyday and is at risk of falling in it himself or his young child because idiots keep removing the cone. The fact that it's been left like this for so long is ridiculous.

  • It's still broken. It's probably more broken than it was and in the high winds the cone keeps heading for the middle of the road.

  • Still broken still not fixed. Councillor Thorne says that the matter is in hand. I see no evidence of this. Honestly tempted to go and decorate the cone for Easter at this point.

  • Still broken. Still dangerous. This has been three months since I reported here and six months since I reported it to my County Councillor Trevor Thorne referred it internally. This is beyond a joke and totally unacceptable.

  • It's now even worse. It's falling into the hole and pushing the cone up. The corners of the drain cover are now higher than the pavement and increasing the hazard.

  • Finally fixed. 5 MONTHS. How is that acceptable?
