Request for New Grit Bin
Reported via desktop anonymously at 17:38, Sat 6 January 2024
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5406219.
I would like to request a new grit bin to be installed by the front of the Parish Hall in Whitley Chapel. This would aid users of the hall as well as children passing to go the the adjacent school.

The criteria for the installation of a new grit bin are points based and includes the severity of the slope and bends, the category of traffic, if the highway is on a Primary 1 gritting route if there is already a grit bin within 200m radius and the footfall. Our Highway Inspector for the area will assess the need for a new grit bin in the location.

The criteria for the installation of a new grit bin are points based and includes the severity of the slope and bends, the category of traffic, if the highway is on a Primary 1 gritting route if there is already a grit bin within 200m radius and the footfall. Our Highway Inspector for the area has been to assess the need for a new grit bin and unfortunately the area does not meet the criteria. The parish council can purchase a grit bin from Northumberland County Council to be placed in a location that does not meet the winter service criteria but is viewed by them as a requirement and is in a location that can be safely accessed by Highways crews for refilling and does not obstruct the public footpath. These grit bins will usually be green. This report has now been closed. Thank You
