Pavement covered with rotting wet leaves

Reported via mobile in the Surface Condition category anonymously at 22:57, Monday 20 November 2023

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5235095.

Station Road in Allendale has only one pavement, over the road, for about 40 houses. Autumn brings a huge amount of leaves, west of 'The Haining'. The only narrow pedestrian path on a very busy road. These leaves have become piled high, wet and slippy. A person has no option but to trudge through them, or walk on the road. 40mph limit is disregarded most of the time. This is a dangerous situation, an accident waiting to happen. I walk my dog every morning along here and it's becoming a real worry for me. I have had to report this for the last 2 years running. Why can't we have our one and only pavement routinely cleared properly? After my last request / complaint last year, a couple of council 'workers' turned up with shovels, and reluctantly put some leaves in the back of their van. The path was not cleared and they had no pride in their work to do a good job. I pay almost £200 per month council tax. Please could you, or someone, sort this out? Thank you. Dispondent rate payer.
