Blocked road drain causing standing water on the road

Reported via desktop in the Blocked - Flooding of Road/Path category anonymously at 20:26, Sat 28 October 2023

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5148154.

The drain is fully blocked with earth and debris causing rain water to build up on the road. All of the drains on this road would benefit from a good wash through. The blocked one has been like this for at least 18 months - I have previously reported it but nothing was done.

  • Hi - this is still outstanding and causing water to pool on the road. The row of drains from the ford to St Peter’s church could all do with clearing and flushing through

  • Hi - this is still outstanding and needs action to resolve. The problem originates from water flowing down from behind the church causing debris and muck to block the drains. Both the cause and resulting blocked drains need to be sorted.

  • This is still outstanding and getting worse with the colder temperatures. This is now causing a build up of ice across the road which is clearly dangerous for vehicles and pedestrians. As mentioned before both the cause of the running water and the resulting blocked drain needs resolving.

  • Over the last 2 days this has frozen and the entire road (both sides) is covered in thick ice.

  • This is still blocked - see pictures. The issue of water coming from the hillside has predominantly been resolved with a new land drain - however the road drain remains blocked and needs digging out.

  • This is still blocked and no action has been taken since reporting it in October of last year. The drain needs digging out to remove all of the compacted dirt / debris that washed into it over a long period of time.
