There needs to be a Stop or GiveWay sign at the exit of the Corporation Yard car park please
Reported via desktop in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way (Signs) category anonymously at 18:08, Wed 13 September 2023
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4991393.
There is currently no signage and the only marking on the road at the exit of the Corporation Yard Car Park says No Entry. I live in Chantry Mews and have a near miss on a regular basis with cars coming out of the car park, they often don't stop and drivers sometimes don't look left or right but assume they have right of way. What with cars parking on the yellow lines, delivery vans coming to the back of M&S, Lidl etc, and pedestrians just wandering across the roads it is a very busy and congested area of road going around Corporation Yard and New Phoenix yard. Thank you.

There is still no sign in place. There is already a post at the car park exit - on the right hand side - on which there is a reminder sign about displaying a parking disc. I would have thought a give way or stop sign could just be put on the top of that post? I suppose ideally a sign should go at the left hand side of the exit but a sign on the right would be a good starting point.

Still no sign in place yet, but I have had another near miss this week with someone coming out of the car park without stopping to check for traffice coming from their right or left.

I don't understand why something so simple to fix is taking so long. It was a waste of time and effort reporting it. I expect an accident will have to happen before anyone takes it seriously.

I've given up hope that this will ever get done. Perhaps there needs to be an accident there and then something may happen.

The message above was generated after I phoned the Council earlier this week to try and find out why something as simple as putting a road sign on an existing post is taking so long. Since my last update I have had two further near misses in my car and seen other near misses involving both cars and pedestrians.

I've given up hope regarding a sign but would like to think that the presence of police vehicles using 4 of the end bays in the car park will encourage people to drive more carefully when they exit the car park.

Over a year and still no sign erected. I just don't understand why it is not a simple situation to resolve. There is already a post there, a sign just needs to be attached. Even if someone could explain what progress is or isn't being made, that would be helpful. At the moment I feel no-one has even looked at this request.
