Potential future blockage problem and environmental issue.

Reported via desktop in the Damaged Drains category anonymously at 08:26, Thu 6 July 2023

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4755340.

Render replacement work at 21 Western Way. Company carrying out work 'Purpose Rendering' have been systematically disposing of their waste render liquids into this surface water drain. The concern is two fold. 1. This surface drain exits into the river Pont at the bottom of Western Way....the worry is that there could be subsequent environmental damage down stream. 2. The cement bast nature of most render systems means that there may be a chance of solidification in the drain and pipework leading to future flooding in the roadway and adjacent properties.

It may be prudent to get this drain pumped out at the earliest opportunity.

Having been asked to stop, the foreman on site is adamant that it is their right to use the drain for such and is normal practice?
